Background: My approach to counseling and psychotherapy is a direct, interactive relationship with my patients. I believe that patients have a right to the best care available for their particular needs. I use a systemic, cognitive and mindful approach for most issues but also employ any number of techniques tailored to the specific concerns and issues of the individual. My more than 20 years in the counseling and psychotherapy field has given me the experience and training to recognize and treat a wide variety of issues.
As a licensed marriage and family therapist I have worked as a counselor and therapist in schools, drug and alcohol treatment programs, outpatient mental health clinics and the criminal justice system. My experience involves working with adult individuals, adolescents, couples and families. I have also been a consultant to local school districts and police departments regarding their community and diversion programming as well as gang prevention. My appointment by the State of California to examine prospective licensees and as an adjunct professor in a graduate psychology program has kept me up tp date in my field.
